Question 1

How should I choose an astrophotography target tonight?

Accepted Answer

Prioritize targets that are high above the horizon during the dark window and far from the Moon. Higher altitude usually means less atmosphere and better contrast.

Question 2

Does moonlight affect target selection?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Bright moonlight reduces contrast, especially for faint nebulae and galaxies. The tool surfaces moon distance and moon phase to help avoid poor target choices.
